Fn Key=Right click

Hello,

The blue Fn key is acting as my right mouse button, when pressed.  So I am unable to use any of my function keys.    I contacted phone support and they said they would get back to me, it has been two days.  I think I stumped them :).

tbah73,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The [Fn] key is controlled by the BIOS.  I would suggest updating this in an attempt to correct the issue.

jayklm,

I solved the problem when I ran the keyboard test option.  I forget exactly what I did , but I think there maybe a reset in the keyboard test options.  What is happening to you is the Blue FN key is acting like the top right most button on the keyboard or the right click mouse button.  After I went through the Keyboard test process I some how fixed it. It took me a while to do it.    If you can not figure out how to do it just reply back and I will write you up some brief instructions.  I feel for you because it is extremely frustrating

Good Luck

My Inspiron 5100 just starting doing this today.
I read this post to update my bios. I updated my bios
from A25 to A28 and the problem still exists.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks

Thank you :) it helped me. It errored out the first time. While testing the keys it did not see the ~ key.  then when I did the next test (press any key you want to test), it worked. the next time I ran the test, the keyboard passed all tests..

thanks again
