Error Code 4C00:0923

I ran a diagnostic and received "Error Code 4C00:0923; Msg: A PC Card is not seated properly. Check the card in Socket A (index 3E0h, bas0h)". I have an Inspiron 5150 with Windows SP2 installed. Any idea what this means? Could it have something to do with my wireless network card slot?

The hard drive was recently replaced and reformatted (old one was unstable). Since installing Windows XP from the original operating disc and Windows updates on the new hard drive, the wireless adapter card (Netgear WG511v2) does not work properly. Wireless fades in and out and, at times, it doesn't even seem to be recognized by the computer. Somtimes it works but mostly it doesn't. I had the exact same wireless configuration before having to reinstall a new hard drive on this notebook with SP2 and had no problems with wireless connectivity. I've tried another brand of wireless card (Realtek) and am experiencing the same problems: wireless network is detected and works fine, and then all of a sudden it totally disappears and computer doesn't recognize adapter in slot, then wireless is detected again and works fine, and so on, and so on.

Thanks for your help!

When you reinstalled XP did you install the CHIPSET drivers, followed by Notebook System Software?

Thanks, Rick, for your reply. I installed the CHIPSET drivers and Notebook System Software after Windows SP2. Do they have to be installed in a certain order before any other drivers, Windows updates, etc.? Any idea what I need to uninstall before reinstalling, and in what order I should do it in? Thanks, again!

Chipset and NSS should be installed BEFORE other drivers.  Windows Updates can be installed prior.
