Hi Andyr123,

To enabled and disable the touchpad on Dell Inspiron 3451, press + simultaneously.

Hi Andyr123,

This system model does not support this feature as the software for Touchpad is not supported by this system model.

You can disable / enable the touchpad form the Operating system by following the below steps based on the Operating system installed.

Windows 7 is installed

  1. Click Start.
  2. Clink Control Panel.
  3. Click Hardware and Sound.
  4. Click Mouse.
  5. Click the Dell Touchpad tab.
  6. Click the link, Click to change Dell Touchpad settings.
  7. Locate the Touchpad On/Off option to disable or enable the touchpad.

Windows 8 is installed

  1. Move the mouse cursor to the upper right corner of the screen until the Charms Bar appears.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Change PC settings.
  4. Under PC settings, select PC and devices.
  5. Select Mouse and touchpad.
  6. Locate the Touchpad On/Off toggle switch to disable or enable the touchpad.

Hope this helps.

What a non-sense Dell does not support this function on the 3451 model.

Seriously I will never buy dell again ... totally user unfriendly system.

Obviously the answer to enable/disable going through the PC settings is not useful, if you don't have a mouse handy.

How I enable my touchpad when I don't have any mouse?

I think Dell should have an option "disable when mouse connected"
