DVD Drive not working
Hello, I received my Laptop in the mail after repairs. The problem was my DVD Drive wasn't working. After restoring my PC to factory settings and a new DVD Drive it still would not work. That's when I sent it to Dell. I received my repaired Laptop a few days ago and the DVD Drive was working. Now, while trying to install Cyberlink Media Suite (it came w/ my PC) the disk Dell gave me doesn't work. The DVD Drive doesn't show up under "My PC." Device Manager doesn't show a DVD Drive. Does anyone know how I can fix my DVD Drive? Or, can I find a download for Cyberlink Media Suite? I cant download the Suite on Dell's site and Cyberlink's site doesn't have the old version. Any ideas? Thanks

Me again...I Downloaded a Trial of Cyberlink Media Suite and it recognizes my DVD Drive. I can Burn disks but my Drive still doesn't show up in File Explorer or Device Manager. I do not want to reinstall Windows or send my Laptop for repairs. Any ideas?

Hello,
Can you please check in device manager if the drive is detected.
As the cyberlink is able to burn the disc, so definitely the hardware is fine, but definitely strange why its not showing up in device manager. Do check in BIOS and let us know.
Simultaneously, please follow these steps and let us know if it helped.
Now restart the machine and let us know if it helps.

Thanks for the reply. After looking in Regedit I do not see the "action..." folder. I'm attaching a picture of Regedit. Please take a look and reply back.

Hi,
Now expand "action ***", and under action *** search for the 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} , then check on the right side for upper or lower filters.

Me again. I'm using Windows 10. Is that why the folder doesn't show up? If I ask Windows 10 Insider forums what am I looking for? What Folders? Please reply. Thanks

Hi,
So when you expand the option action *** (as i could see on the image you have sent), arent there any entries under it? If you are dealing with Windows 10 insider forum, please show them the same path as i have mentioned or just mention , how to delete filters in windows 10 registry.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I don't see "action ***". I see "ACPI" and "AGP." If they're in alphabetic order should "action" be there. Or does "action***" mean something else? Sorry again, but what folder in the photo should I expand?

Still there? What does "action ***" mean?

Success! I looked over the link you gave me and it worked. The Folder I was looking for was "action ***." My DVD Drive shows up under "My PC." Hopefully this will be a permanent fix. I'll save the info you gave me for later. Thanks for the help!
