Dell vostro 3560 FINGERPRINT READER NOT WORKING

I had recently bought a vostro 3560 ( i5 3230M , 4GB RAM, HM77 chipset etc.) with no OS. I have currently installed windows 7 SP1 ( 32 bit ) on it. I have installed all the drivers from the Dell website by using my service tag. All works fine except FINGERPRINT reader. Though device manager shows the Biometric devices and validity sensors under it, but i could not found any utility in control panel that takes fingerprint scans and uses the hardware Nor i have found any link to Digital persona suite that i could install.

The driver version shown in device manager is 2.1.0.3 .

please HELP !!  I wanna use my hardware.

thanks in advance

There should be under All Programs in the Dell program folder a Dell Program called Dell Data Protection Access  (DDPA). When you launch this it should guide you through setting up your fingerprints. Take a look there and see if you see it.

Hello Shubhamkapoor,

Rickroe has provided very accurate set up instructions.  You may also want to check in the Bios.  The fingerprint reader should be enabled by default, but its always a good idea to verify that the setting is correct.  Here is a link that provides more information on laptop security features:  http://dell.to/1bC7fka
If you are still unable to get the fingerprint reader to work, you can try to install a fresh version of the Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver under the Security tab of the Dell Driver website: http://dell.to/1coWNfP.  Additionally, the most recent version of the Bios is A16.  You may need to update the Bios.
I hope this helps.  Let us know if you run into any further issues.
