DELL LOGO STUCK when starting laptop + LAPTOP freezes when shutdowns or after sleeping mode

Hi Dell,

I have a brandnew dell inspiron 15R which is first getting stuck at dell logo when starting the laptop.

I have another issue which is likely linked to the first one: when the laptop shutdowns or go in sleeping mode, it sometimes get stuck (black screen but power stays on) and  does not shutdown automatically (I have to force it by pressing the main power switch).

I have done the following as suggested by Dell to fix this issue

Hi All,

Sorry that you all are having this issue on your new systems.

Try the steps below and confirm if the system is able to boot to Windows:

• Change the SATA operation in BIOS (tap F2 on start up),from Intel Smart Response to AHCI.

• Save changes in BIOS.

• Reboot the system

• Go back into Bios (F2) and change SATA operation from AHCI  to Intel Smart Response.

• Save the changes

• Reboot the system.

• System should boot normally into Windows.

Try couple of times and make sure system is booting to Windows normally. ......"

Unfortunatly, this does not fix the issue permanently. Indeed, it worked for a while (maybe few weeks), then my laptop got stuck again when shutting down. I had to force the shutdown by pressing and then again got stuck at dell logo when restarting the laptop.

So, I have tried to fix permanently the issue by installing this windows update (KB2756872).

Unfortunatly (I'm not lucky but I'm sure I'm not the only one), after downloading the KB2756872 update, the installation is not working !! Nothing happens.

So, I have followed all instructions mentioned to solve the installation of KB2756872 without success. The installation update is still not working.

COULD YOU PLEASE HELP

Thank You

Fred
