dark brown screen(practically dead)

some months ago, my screen started turning brown while i would b working on something. at first i ignored it and then one day it suddenly went from dark brown to black. at first i thought that i had lost my laptop. Then on close inspection i found out that the screen is just very very dark and u can hardly make out anything. i have been using a monitor to continue my work. Can someone please tell me what problem i might be facing. I have tried reconnecting the screen with the body, removed the plugs, cleaned everything, but it didn't work. Any clue guys ?
