Coffee Spilled On Laptop

I got a laptop that a customer has spilled coffee on.  I have taken it apart and cleaned it all out but i beleive that the motherboard is fried.  I would like to know a price for this Latitude CPX to be sent in and the motherboard possible replaced.

Thanks

Cost is more than a new laptop.

About the only place to get one of those motherboards is eBay. Don't bother, just tell him to BUY a new or newer notebook.

You might want to verify that it wasn't just the battery or the power supply that got fried, as that occasionally occurs.  It's difficult to assume which link in the chain is going to fry and fail first in situations like that.  The keyboards are often victims as well, and cleanup attempts are often unsuccessful.  The nice thing about replacing those is that the job is fairly simple, and the keyboards are cheap.

Depending on the model (CPxJ/CPxH), system boards are available here for $229-$299.  You can often find them for less than that at reputable dealers who are liquidating their older stock, and they will often provide at least a 90 day warranty.

Ok thank alot for the info.  I told the guy it probably wasn't worth fixing but he still wanted to know a ballpark price.

A lot cheaper than a new notebook, if you know (or know someone who knows) what you're doing.

I need some HELP PLEASE!!!  I just spilled about 2 ounces of green tea on my laptop! It was warm not too hot. So laptop kept working then- about 2 min later said windows is shutting down. Ok. So now I waited a little bit as the green battery light was still on and dried off the outside then tried to restart. Ok restarts fine - then Windows is shutting down again.

Now I tipped it on it's side some tea came out. I've just let it be for the past hour- this has all been within the last hour and half.

What should I do? Any advice/guidance is certainly appreciated!!!

Laptop is sitting on its side unplugged right now.

THANK YOU for any help at all!!!!

Stop trying to turn it on. By trying to turn it on all you are doing is causing more damage. Take it apart and let it dry out.
