cannot enroll fingerprint

Question

Now I'm having a problem trying to enroll fingerprints on the reader...telling me bad quality and too short.  I had several people doing  this and came up with the same result.  Went into the BIOS and everything is working fine.  Do I have a bad fingerprint reader suite installed?  I hope not, this laptop is brand new.
