BIG PROBLEM

I started the laptop and it surprised me by indicating it was going through a hardware test.  When finished it indicated that there were no hardware problems.

Next what appeared n the screen was as follows:

AUTOMATIC REPAIR

Your pc did not start correctly.  Press RESTART to Restart Your PC which can sometimes fix the problem.  You can also press Advanced Options to try other options to repair your pc.

When I click on RESTART, the Dell Logo appears and the circle starts up and after about a minute, the  screen goes black for a few seconds and the Dell Logo then re-appears and then a message appears stating "PREPARING AUTOMATIC REPAIR" and the circle starts up for about a minute and then another message appears stating "DIAGNOSING YOUR PC" and the circle starts up again for less than a minute and then the original message re-appears:

Your pc did not start correctly.  Press RESTART to Restart Your PC which can sometimes fix the problem.  You can also press Advanced Options to try other options to repair your pc.

This cycle repeats itself over and over and over and over - no matter how many times I restart the computer.

If I click on ADVANCED OPTIONS, a blank screen appears and remains on indefinitely.

PLEASE HELP

Start with a run of the Dell diagnostics.  Press F12 a few times at powerup and boot to the diagnostics.

If any errors arise, post those (such as 2000-0142, etc). along with the system model (i.e., Inspiron N5110, XPS L502x, etc.) and operating system and version.
