Static routes for insightIQ 5.1

The network setup is  a little oddly done. 

We  have one Isilon on main datacenter where also the InsightIQ appliance is. So this works fine.
The other is secondary DC and the route to that network is not default x.x.x.1/24 where the internet can be accessed but behind other router x.x.x.254/24. 
So I need to configure static route to to secondary network. That is possible from operating system in version 4 but one cannot access to OS in version 5. 
One  solution is that one set the default gateway to secondary router, but then the appliance cannot access to internet for updates or so.  

Can you create the static route on the switch or router for it?
