Netgroups for NFS
Hi I am new admin and one of the things I noticed is that when running a basic healthcheck there are some NFS exports that have a long list of clients. OneFS is recommending to use netgroups but I don't believe netgroups have ever been setup during the initial implementation, how can I validate this? I opened a case with support and apparently they so not help with this and the admin guide does not go into how to set these up.
Thank you we are running OneFS 9.2.1.0

Hi,
Thanks for your question. This article has some information on how to set up netgroups. https://dell.to/3JTkt6K If everything is working properly without them though it may be fine to leave it as is. https://dell.to/3JTfwuQ

Hi I appreciate it but could not find the steps to get started with a netgroup. Is there a command where I can query and validate if there are any existing netgroups?

Try page 101 https://dell.to/3ZKPq1Q it could also be in the ldap settings.

Hi I took another look, I had already read the admin guide but it does delve into on how to create the netgroup file it implies it already exists. If I had a file, then I could follow these steps to add clients into it.

Can I simply and safely create a directory named netgroups in /etc and a new text file using vi into /etc/netgroups I am hesitant to make a change like this on OneFS without the blessing of support.
