Drive State Issue

Hello Everyone!

I have a new Isilon x200 with OneFs v8 cluster and due to a recent power outage problem, the whole 12 drives in one of the nodes is in the "SED_ERROR" state.

I have re-imaged the node severally, re-formatted the node and all the drives but have not been able to return the drives state to "Healthy".

Please any advice regarding this problem? Thank you.

Hello jessieobioma,

I am going to say at this point a support case is needed to be opened to resolve your issue.  There are steps that only support can do, & some commands that need to be run in order to resolve your issue.  I understand that the system doesn’t have a support contract anymore, However this is not a issue that can be resolved without a support case.

Hello @PhilLam,

Thank you for responding.

Unfortunately, I can not make an SR as support for the systems have ended.

I would appreciate any help that I can get.

Thank you.

@jessieobioma,

I'm not a hardware SME, so I don't know those commands.

Hello @PhilLam,

Thank you for taking out the time.

Sorry I failed to mention that I already tried reverting the drive state using its PSID.

The below command was supposed to revert the drives to its "unowned" state but did not resolve the issue.

# /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/isi_sed drive da1 revert

Please correct me if the syntax or command itself is wrong.

Thank you.

Hello jessieobioma,

That is the wrong syntax.  As it should be /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/isi_sed drive < daX>.  Also, you run that command after you have revert the drive.  The command you are looking for is /usr/bin/isi_hwtools/isi_sed revert < daX>

Hello @DELL-Sam L,

I tried the "revert" command and it requested for the PSID of the drive,

After entering the PSID, the command ended with the following error message for both da1 and da2.

"ERROR: Bay 2: Dev da2, SEAGATE ST3000NM0063, SN Z1Y3BSFT0000R533CXZ8, WWN 5000c5008359c3cc: revert_factory_default: No connection to the Key Manager"

Any idea how I can resolve this problem?

Thank you.
