Reporting, Monitoring and Alerting
IDPA has Reporting as well as Monitoring and Alerting capabilities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REPORTING:
Data Protection Advisor (DPA) is the primary place for Reporting in IDPA.

Here is short video giving demonstrating scheduling reports in DPA:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MONITORING:
Monitoring is typically done with the various GUI interfaces available in IDPA:
ACM and DPC are good places to see the entire IDPA system overview, including all the components.
Then there are also: Avamar AUI or Admin (java) / DD Sys Mgr / iDRAC (HW and F/W) / DPS / DPA / iDRAC etc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALERTING:
SRS (formerly ESRS) is the primary mechanism for Alerting in IDPA.
Here are some useful facts about SRS with IDPA:
- SRS can be configured during initial IDPA deployment or anytime afterwards.
- If it has not been configured:
- go to acm dashboard and click on the Settings icon and select Configure SRS and complete your info as shown here:
- When registering IDPA per above, the following components are registered (no additional config is needed for these):
- ACM (Appliance Configuration Manager)
- Avamar (Backup Server)
- Data Domain (Protection Storage)
- DPA (Data Protection Advisor)
- All four components will send Alerts to SRS as needed, but only Avamar and Data Domain will also send daily status reports.
Here are some useful SRS references:
- Here is the Dell Support SRS home page- you can search for IDPA here:
- IDPA is registered with ESRS but the 4 enabled components of the IDPA are not Sending Connect Home Messages:
- IDPA - How to send test Connect Home messages from ESRS enabled Components on an IDPA:
- IDPA - DD Failing dial homes via ConnnectEMC:
- IDPA: Unable to register with SRS, error "Failed to register ESRS : Site ID not part of the device group":
- IDPA | ICMP connection and IP Reverse lookup to the Secure Remote Services (SRS) gateway is required for SRS configuration:
Configuring email notifications in IDPA:
- acm dashboard- Customer Information section (lower right)- click Settings icon- Configure Email. It will ask for SMTP server, port (25), and administrator email address.
Questions/comments welcome.
