Compression Rate IDPA DP4400

Hi everyone!

I'm checking the specifications of the IDPA DP4400 and I can see that it has a deduplication rate up to 55:1 but I can't find anything else, like the minimum or maximum rate of deduplication and also I can't find these information but on the compression side. So, my questions are these:

- What is the minimum, average and maximum compression rate of the IDPA DP4400?

- What is the minimum, average and maximum deduplication rate of the IDPA DP4400?

Thanks in advance.

In IDPA all backup data is stored on the Data Domain, while only metadata about the backups is stored on the Avamar. This differs from a standalone Avamar that is not integrated with DD, in which case all data is stored on the Avamar.

So for IDPA, when asking about Compression and Dedupe, we are talking about features of the DD.

The below Dell reference states "The IDPA DP4400 delivers up to 20% more capacity than competitive 2U appliances and an average rate of 55:1 deduplication":

Here are some other helpful KBs that give a lot of detail about understanding these features and how to check them on your system:

You can run the "filesys show compression" cmd on DD to see the % of reduction: (click image to enlarge)

I hope this helps.

Hi @SergioBr98

Sorry we did not see your post earlier.

The details you are asking are a little hard to find, but I am letting you know that I will be working on it and hope to post some results soon.

If you are an existing or potential customer, I would also suggest checking with your Dell Sales rep, as that is the kind of info they may have better access to.

Thanks!
