Volume buttons not working on Dell Inspiron 15

Inspiron 15 5510/5518

Inspiron 15 5510/5518

Hello, and thank you for your help in advance. I have run into a problem where I cannot change the volume for my laptop without going into the settings page. I have volume buttons on my keyboard, but when I press them the volume rectangle pops up at the bottom of the screen, but the numbers never change (stuck at 44). So, I know the button works, it does just not affect anything. When I press the volume settings in the bottom right corner, I can change the sliding button from 0-100, but it doesn't actually affect the sound. The only way I can change it, is to go to settings->system->sound->volume mixer and use the sliding button for Microsoft Edge. I feel like I've tried changing all of the settings, but I'm obviously missing something. I don't remember doing anything that caused the problem, it just kind of happened one day when I was on a Zoom call.

Thanks again!

Have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers to see if that will resolve the issue?

To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them.  Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.
