Does this mean bad ribbon cable?

The localized nature of the fault likely means it's a bad screen - not the cable. Run a screen diagnostic (hold D through powerup). If the fault shows there, the screen needs to be replaced.

Thanks but nothing happens when I try that.
Also, this only happens when it's not plugged into wall power.

Thanks but nothing happens when I try that.
Also, this only happens when it's not plugged into wall power.
