Upgrading hard drive to SSD but Sata cable came off the board

Hi, my inspiron 14 laptop's hard drive failed and I bought an SSD to replace it. While I am trying to replace it today and pulling out the Sata cable, it was a bit tight and the other end of Sata cable came off the board. How can attach the Sata cable back to the board? Or did I just destroy it? Thanks!

Welcome to the Dell Community @jo99999

Flaten the Blue tab that gets inserted into the ZIF connector.

The 2 tabs that stick out on the sides will line up with 2 tabs inside the ZIF connector.

When inserted slowly close the black flap to lock the cable.

If every thing lines up you will see the Blue straight line along the Black flap.

The latch looks to be intact (the black part should just flip down and lock the cable in place).  If so, it should be easy to reattach.

If the latch is broken and won't hold, or the drive isn't seen by the system, it's likely you'll need to replace the system board.

I can't see your pictures at the moment, but there should be a tab on the top of the connector that the ribbon cable plugs into. Carefully and gently lift the tab up away from the front of the connector. Do not remove the tab, it's not removable. Slide the ribbon cable all the way into the slot of the connector and flip the tab back down to hold the ribbon cable in place.

Thanks all! I managed to re-connect the cable and everything works fine.
