SupportAssist OS recovery keeps on loading
I have an Inspiron 5580 that needs to have a factory reset. I have downloaded the right file on a USB stick and inserted it I the laptop.
The SupportAssist OS recovery started to load be it that's all it does. It has been loading for over an hour now and nothing else happens. It just says Loading.... Is this normal?

If it crashed you may have a failing hard drive which no amount of factory reseting will help.
I suggest you run Dell Diagnostics F12 to find out why the laptop is crashing.

Why are you doing a Factory reset?
Even if you manage to get the laptop to from-the-factory condition, it will spend hours downloading and installing numerous Windows 10 updates.
All in all, a horrible idea!

A horrible idea? Might be but if it works I wont have to buy a new laptop.
It crashed and this is the option I have.

I have done that already w the help of a technician and the tip was to do this.
My question is still the same. Is it normal that it just keeps loading without any hint of activity for several hours?

No it is not normal.
You have a problem and doing a factory reset isn't going to help.

Dear, culd you post the result? I am waiting for hours in the loading screen. And no instructions were presented here about the solution, or what to do in this case. I have an inspiron i15-3483-A2YP.

Perhaps OP was selling his laptop? A factory reset is a good and simple (if it works!) way to not have to spend hours doing all the stuff you mentioned. (Yes, it will still need to be done at some point, but not if OP was just interested in wiping and restoring to original condition)

I have a inspiron 15 7000 and when my computer is left unattended the support assist recovery starts loading and fails to finish so my computer is forced to restart. I have tried to work through this with a technician 4/5 times and ended up getting a refurbished computer replacement. The same problem perists and they keep telling me that updating my bios is going to fix the problem... What can I do to get it to stop defaulting into the recovery mode?
