Problems with OS Recovery Tool

I have a Inspiron 15 3573 (2019 vintage) that is really running slow.  I want to reinstall the OS, but can't seem to get the Dell OS Recovery Tool working.  I've installed the latest version (X3VK8_WIN_2.3.7010.0_A00).  I'm running the tool as Administrator, but its not recognizing any USB drive.  I've tried three different drives (two 16GB SanDisk Cruzer Glides and one PNY 128GB).

Thoughts on how to proceed?

We are aware that the current version of the Dell OS Recovery Tool is experiencing crashes when attempting to create media.

In the meantime, if you need a media creation tool, we recommend using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool as a temporary solution. This tool will allow you to create installation media for Windows.

If you are looking to restore your device, please use SupportAssist OS Recovery.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding. We will keep you updated on any progress regarding this issue.

I am assuming windows 10 is on the computer....

Power off computer. Remove all peripherals such as printer, external drive and speakers. Insert USB Recovery Tool in the correct port - see link below):

Power on system, quickly start taping F12 key continuously to boot into Dell Preboot Menu. hopefully you'll see USB recovery drive now. If you still don't see recovery drive, I suggest creating a windows 10 installation media from Microsoft website, and then use it to reinstall windows 10.

Thanks, LSUFAN51.

I was able to download the Dell OS Recovery tool on another computer (an HP laptop; also running Windows 10) and use the tool to create the USB media.  Using the USB media, I was able to reinstall the OS on the Dell Inspiron laptop.

At this point, I've done what I wanted to do.

Again, thanks for your suggestions.

The Dell OS Recovery Tool crashes during the image download process on some Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers with Microsoft .NET updates KB5037591 and KB5037587 installed. Use Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery to restore the Operating system on your computer.

Dell Engineering Teams are working on an updated version of the Dell OS Recovery Tool. No ETA. For now you can uninstall KB5037591 or KB5037587 from the computer. This allows the Dell OS Recovery Tool to restore full functionality.
