Laptop upgrade

Hi there,

I have a dell Inspiron 3584 laptop i3 7th gen 8gb dual channel ram.

I want to upgrade the laptop completely. I know I can't upgrade the processor so I am thinking of upgrading the motherboard.Depending on the model I have (ports and vents). I am thinking of installing the dell Inspiron 3583 motherboard I know it cost more but I have a friend of mine who works in a refurbished Store so I will get discount. I am also upgrading the screen to an fhd and also the storage type.If possible I will add a custom back lit keyboard. Can you guide me how to upgrade it like from basic and also about the service tag that how can I get the new one

Start with the XPS 15 or 17 systems if you're looking new -- that's around the $1,500-2,000 price class for capabilities to match those games.

If you're looking used, you'd be better off with a desktop than a notebook system.  That will give you some upgradability that the notebook won't -- and gaming notebooks tend to have led hard lives, making them risky buys used.

Outside of the high end (workstation and gaming-class 17" systems), upgradability of notebooks is limited to RAM and storage.

You haven't mentioned exactly what you're looking to upgrade.  A 7th generation i5 or i7 CPU is plenty capable even today - despite four generations having passed, the 11th generation Intel CPUs aren't that much more capable than the 7th were.

Most likely, you're looking for a video upgrade - in which case you'll need to determine what your budget will support.  If you're looking for capable GPUs, there are plenty of these out there on the used market.

Don't count on using a system board from one model in another -- even closely related models may have been made by two different manufacturers, and the chances of boards interchanging are slim to zero.

Both of these are very low end systems - the later model is no more capable than the earlier one.  If you want to upgrade, consider buying a complete, used model with a better feature set -- either a 7000 series, or an XPS system.
