Is CMOS battery failure linked with hard disk not found?
I used a Dell Inspiron n5110. Recently my laptop fails to load the BIOS on booting saying boot device not found. I ran different diagnosis and on doing a hardware scan it says the hard drive was not found. I tested the hard drive externally and it still was not discovered. I replaced it with another and now I keep having to reset the system date and time on starting up the system which is an obvious induction of CMOS battery failure. But is it possible that this had been the cause of my problem for the onset?

Signs of a CMOS Battery Failure starts with Incorrect computer date and time settings. Also, the date/time keep getting reset even after you fix them in the BIOS. This is the most common CMOS battery failure sign.

Please keep in mind, the n5110 computer is consider as an old system in the computer world. If any parts in the system never been replace, the bay battery or hard drive usually be the first to be replace. The coin cell battery usually needs to be replace within 5 - 10 years. I'd suggest replacing the coin cell battery with a new one. You can easily purchase one at your local dollar store for about $2.00 - $5.00. You could even check online.
