INTEL Wireless AC 9462 issue-code 10

Found this in another chat room and it worked!!! I tried everything!! Most importantly, shut down, do not restart.

"Former Microsoft engineer here, although nothing to do with networking.

This happens to me every few days on my G3 17 with the latest Windows 10. The fastest way past it that I've found is:

1) Bring up Device Manager. The Wireless AC 9462 icon will be visible, with the "trouble triangle"

2) Right click on the AC 9462 and select "uninstall". (No issue doing so. Windows will detect and reinstall)

3) Power the computer completely off. Suspend or restart does not seem to work.

4) Boot. The driver should be auto-detected and installed.

5) Proceed as you were. You may have to reenter your WiFi password

6) Nag Dell to fix this problem."

Did you try getting the card's driver from Dell Downloads instead of Intel? Code 10 is a driver problem.

Go to Dell Drivers and Downloads page for your model computer to get the Dell customized version of the Intel network card. There is an urgent Jan 2022 update for that card here-

Dell Cares: I would request you to check support assist periodically to check drivers update.

The above is what I received from Dell Support when I asked them to notify people in Dell Chat that are having this problem. I guess they don't have a way of doing this. They also do not notify Dell owners that they should check support assist for driver and system updates. If I had known this when I first started having the WiFi driver problem it would have saved me a lot of hassle.

My issue was solved by using the links that Dell Support provided to update the BIOS and Wi-Fi drivers. This is a problem with the Dell hardware.

approach one-

  1. device manager -> network adapter -> wireless ac xxxx
  2. uninstall device (also select the checkbox to delete the driver software from machine)
  3. download in separate computer
    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=525fc&oscode=wt64a&productcode=g-series-17-3779-laptop
  4. now transfer the downloaded driver to the machine with network issue
  5. double click and install the driver
  6. shut down and restart

if wifi list still empty another approach-

  1. device manager -> network adapter -> wireless ac xxxx
  2. uninstall device
  3. find a lan cable
  4. directly attach it with your machine and router
  5. once you can browse internet, remove the cable

Thank you. This was the only suggestion that worked. The key is the shut down versus restart.

Hi, I found an interesting fix that worked on all DELL models that had the problem with wireless. Access the BIOS, go to the connections menu and disable the option "Enable UEFI Network Stack", restart the notebook and see if it worked.
