Inspiron 16 7610, touchpad issue and flickering
Hi,
I received Dell Inspiron 16 Plus last week, and I was satisfied with most of this new laptop.
However, the touchpad problem arose a few days ago.
It happens randomly. However, most of the situations in which this problem occurs are outdoors, beds, or side desks.
I attached a video showing a malfunctioning of touchpad

Same here - Inspiron 7506 2in1.
Similar problems regularly. It can go for minutes or hours without the problem and then reappear. Additionally, it sometimes goes a spell in which it misses every third 2-finger swipe... Swipe, swipe, miss, swipe, swipe miss...
As it stands the computer is essentially unusable.
Edit: Please fix these forums. I'm logged in. No need to prove that I'm not a robot every time. I'm either a robot or I'm not a robot. Little chance that on my next post I'll be a robot.

I have the same issue and unfortunately I'm outside US, They advised me to go to the authorized local office to check my device and I will be charged for the service which may happen again with no results.
I think 90% of customers who bought the device faced the same problem, and some of them replaced the touchpad and faced the problem again.
Dell must take the responsibility and solve the problem to the users and redeem them with the bad experience

As far as the touchpad issue, Inspiron 16 7610, Windows 11 Home Edition, 21H2. Up to date on all drivers, BIOS 1.1.3
It comes and goes, usually begins after a period of inactivity. Sometimes a Restart fixes it for a while, and sometimes the problem reappears immediately after a Restart. After reading that some Linux users have experienced the same problem, I'm inclined to think it's a hardware/ driver issue. I chatted with a Dell Parts sales rep to get info on the trackpad component, he said it is P/N K81CM, and mfr is Dell(?). Can anyone verify that information? I was hoping to learn that it was a Synaptics component, and maybe they would have a driver fix.

I was able to get the issue even in the BIOS on my unit and record it:

This happened on BIOS 1.2.1 twice so far - had these issues before that too. I just upgraded to 1.3.0 today but I doubt it will change anything - there are no fixes related to it in the release notes.

Also have the same issues. Been trying all updates/BIOS as they're released. Laptop is unusable 1,400.00 paper weight. Way to go Dell! Dell has refused to replace or refund.

Same here with my 7610 - I had been asking tech support using whatsapp for a repair, had me checking all sorts of random stuff, wanted me to do a factory reset etc. I said no, as there was no point. He asked me to go into bios, so I did, while waiting for him the pointer started juddering and moving all over so I recorded it on my phone and posted it. Now the laptop is waiting collection for repair, 2 and a half hours on whatsapp later!

I have an Inspiron 7610. In the last few days, I started experiencing touchpad problems similar to those reported above. I looked at other posts as well. Users report trying to upgrade drivers, running unplugged, or swapping hardware. I took a completely different approach. I cleaned the touchpad with a tissue dipped in plain water. This did help, but not enough. I repeated the process a couple of times. Now the touchpad is back to working normally.

I had the exact same problem with mine. The problem started as a minor intermittent annoyance and became increasingly problematic to the point that you could barely move the cursor in the BIOS. There's a theory that the battery might be swelling and pushing against the trackpad, making it drop out intermittently.
Tech support made arrangements to come repair my trackpad, but the supply chain problems set the repair back a whole month, so they offered me a refurbished unit. I'm not gonna lie, the refurb unit sounded sketchy at best, but I gotta say, it was in pristine condition. You wouldn't know it was a refurb except for the little sticker that came with it hat said it was a refurb. If they give you this as a solution, take it! Refurb units have been fully tested to make sure all parts are working. The refurb deal is basically they give you the same or better specs, and the color "may" be different, but the 7610 only comes in one color anyway...

OMG! I'm dealing with this as well on my Inspiron 16 and I just got it about 2 weeks ago.
Randomly, the pointer just begins jumping as I use the touchpad. I can go most of the day without problems and then for 10 to 30 minutes it suddenly giltches and it makes using the laptop a nightmare. I now keep a USB mouse handy although it's highly inconvenient for how I work.
I have Dell Premium Plus Support and I've been working with them, off and on, for several days. We've run a variety of diagnostic tests but it feels like I'm the one doing all the work. They send me a video about how to run a test, then I run the test and report back. We've run a hardware diagnosic from Bootup, we've run a clean boot and tested, and taken other steps without clearly identifying the problem.
I've monitored my Task Manager to see if there might be any odd programs running when the problems pop-up but I ran the same programs all day, day after day. I've also tweaked my various touchpad settings to see if different settings might make a difference, but it's all so random. I can't help but feel it is a hardware problem at this point.
Next week I go on the road for a work trip to visit my nonprofit. I expect to give a couple how-to demos and this isn't going to help things, but I'll keep a mouse handy because I can't trust the touchpad.
Unfortunately - for me - I don't have the time to return it, get a new one, and get it up and running before my trip. It's especially frusrating because I always buy Dell for two reasons: 1) reliability and 2) support and now I'm in a bind at a very bad time with a brand new system.
At least I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one with a possibly bad touchpad.
