G3 3590 Hinge Replacement
One of the hinges on my 2019 G3 laptop after only a couple of months using the PC (see images linked below). This has been caused by gently opening and shutting the laptop less than 100 times. In its current state, the screen is tilted to the left when open and can no longer shut completely, putting undue force on the LCD screen and making it unsafe to transport (an important feature of any laptop).
I thought it may have been an easy fix but after doing some research it seems like this is a very common problem for the laptop and I would really like to get it fixed under warranty as users report that eventually both hinges snap out and you're left with a laptop with no screen.

After 10+ years as a Dell customer, I'm afraid this will be my last product. "Dell Cares" support agents wasted my time and mislead me for 6 weeks for what should have been a simple repair job.
I was given the option to have my computer repaired or replaced and I opted for a replacement as repairs were expected to be delayed. Weeks and weeks passed as I continually tried to get an update on the situation from the customer support.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue with my Dell laptop G3 3590, similar to the pictures. I see this is a common problem of this model. I would like to be contacted for fix it.

Hi,
I now have the same exact problem happening to me. I bought the laptop a year ago and like many others, I now have a laptop that is falling apart with nothing else than regular basic use.

Have same problem with G3 15 just fell apart and my laptop's screen is barely stable, needed to put support behind it. Not even thinking abt closing it. I m afraid screen will broke in half. All screws fell down of it. Completely disaster. Won't trust dell soon.

I've been told around 350$ CAN but since they use oem pièces, they said the problem will come back in a few months or so...

@DELL-Cares I'm having the same issue as above on the same manufacture date... Is this something you guys are able to repair or should I just throw out this paperweight?

Thanks @DELL-Cares, the useless robot tells me I'm no longer in the warranty period and to call the technical support.
It is literally 5:56 pm AEST on Monday and your support hours are 8am - 8pm. The call was hung up because "the office is closed".
Literally the worst support that you cannot contact. You make 2 hour hold times seem a breeze. You have lost another customer.

If you are under warranty they will replace it, however, in my opinion, as it's a design flaw (screws holding screen hinges on, drilled into 1mm plastic) it will break again. Since Dell isn't doing a product recall the only way to get your money back would be to sell it after it's fixed.

What a stupid design. Guess its time to ditch this as my warranty was pretty much wasted with the laptop sitting in a box.

Cheers for the tip, I don't know how I will go as I have technically gone past the 12 month mark as stated, but since they have done everything to avoid my tickets and phone calls. It may make a case.

Done and done, complaint submitted. Around 15 days to see if anything will or can be done.
Always great to have hundreds of threads on the same issue with no solution being offered in any of them.

Mine is breaking too. I'm disgusted because it's been used for 2 years in a stationary position on a study desk. I've only just started bringing it to college. The hinges never felt right now they are beginning to break and I see that it's a fault. I've taken such good care of it only using it for work. It's out of warranty. I've read that if I get it fixed or will go again!

Keep us informed, slumstralian.
Mine has been dodgy for most of the time I've had it, but it is now at a stage where the screen can't stay up on its own without support.
