Dell Inspiron 15 5558 no webcam drivers

Hello, I currently have a problem with my webcam on my Inspiron 5558 on windows 10. For some reason the webcam doesn't work anymore and it seems that the drivers are gone. When I go to the "Device Manager" app in windows there is no tab for either "Camera" or "Imaging Devices". Which means that the drivers are gone.

I've tried troubleshooting the camera with the Dell PC diagnostics using the "Support Assist" app following the steps listed here: https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-us/sln85507/dell-webcam-and-dell-webcam-central-software-guide?lang=en.

And it says that there are no drivers installed so the diagnostics cannot continue. I have tried to install them by downloading them from Dell's website. The "Support Assist" app even linked me to there. However on that page there were no drivers for the webcam: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-15-5558-laptop/drivers

I've tried to manually download or force windows to download the webcam drivers but I could not find any drivers online and windows 10 would not download any because it couldn't detect a webcam.

I've also tried to use the diagnostics during the boot up which you can access with "F12". It showed that there was nothing wrong with the webcam and the light even lit up when it was being tested.

I assume that the problem lies in that windows 10 updates deleted my webcam drivers, and I can't download them anywhere which is the cause of the entire problem.

I'm really confused as in how to fix this problem and would like to get some assistance. I can't get support via the support page because my warranty has expired so I came here.

Try the solution in #4 https://windowsreport.com/cant-find-webcam-device-manager/

do not do anything else; just #4  Manually Add the Webcam to Device Manager

Thanks for the reply nyc10036, I've tried following the number 4 solution in the link you've posted.

I've enabled "show hidden devices" and tried to add devices manually. However there is no driver as shown in the images for both "Camera" and "Imaging Devices".

Cannot see the photos just yet until Dell moderators unhide them.

Quicker way would be to link to images at another website.

HDB looks like it is something to do with Huawei

According to Google search, Windows 10 is suppose to have webcam driver needed.

The only thing I can think of is to install Skype and see if it will install the driver needed for the webcam.

I have installed skype. However it did not detect a camera nor did it download drivers for me. Upon going to the "Audio & Video" settings tab it shows no device detected under video. And it links to a general skype page about call quality troubleshooting which doesn't provide a solution to my issue.

I really have no idea why this happened. The only hope I have is that some dell staff member provides me with a manual installation exe for the drivers.

Have you found a solution to this?  I have the same issue.  Below is the message I get when I try to use the internal camera.  I have tried everything, and the internal camera is still not recognized.

We can't find your camera

Check to be sure it's connected and installed properly, that it isn't being blocked

by antivirus software, and that your camera drivers are up-to-date

If you need it, here's the error code:

@LK11

Other Dell owners have reported that they needed to re-connect the webcam. Not sure how they did that.

Hello, same problem here. I find the missing driver. It is listed in Universal Serial Bus divices or USB divices as Integrated Webcam. Try reinstaling it from there. Hope this help.
