Dell G7 7588 AUX Mic in not working

Hello Everyone,

My New G7 is great except for the fact that the auxiliary mic input does not seem to work. the sound is fine and I can hear everything but of all the headsets and mics that I tested that work on other devices, none work.

they do not show up in the recording device's settings either. the main headset that I want to use is the Astro A10. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Thomas

DaSigLad,

Try Disabling  the internal microphone. Right-click the "Speaker" icon in the notification area and select "Recording Devices." Right-click on an empty area in the list of recording devices, then check the "Show Disabled Devices" option, if it is not already checked.

I have this problem but my Headset mic is not recognized in the recording devices - it doesn't show up as an option to choose. Any ideas how I can get this to show up? I have tried 2 external headsets with mic's.

Go to settings and adjust Microphone Permissions...

I had same issues and found this by accident, all good now

Hey,

I have the G7 7588 too and I just figured out the solution after months of it not working. The goal is to find a setting to enable the jack to work as both an input and an output. The problem here is how there is no Windows setting to do this. What you need is a third-party application. Luckily, Dell provides this. Since we have the same computer this should be easy.

Go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/g-series-15-7588-laptop/drivers and find "Waves MaxxAudio Pro Application". Download and install this. (Images below will help you with the process). Once you have it installed it is simple, open it up and click on "Playback". Then you will see "Advanced" at the bottom of the window. Clicking that brings up a pop-up. It should have two options. Check off "Show pop-up dialog when device is connected". This will cause a window to show up whenever you plug a device in. From there you can tell the computer what exactly is being plugged in. If you have headphones with a mic, you choose "Headset" opposed to "Headphones". I hope this works for you. If it does not please let me know. Maybe you did it a different way! I would love to hear from you because it is my computer too!

Note: I think there might be a way to do this using "Realtek HD Audio Manager" but that requires the "Realtek High Definition Audio" drivers. I do not think I have the latest drivers so I have a little more messing around to do. I factory reset my G7 and that is how I found this solution. The MaxxAudioPro homescreenThe MaxxAudioPro homescreenClick on Click on "Playback"Click on Click on "Advanced" and check the second optionThis will show up when you plug your headset in.This will show up when you plug your headset in.
