Dell G5 15 5587 Not Booting Windows 10 from USB 3.1 to NVME Drive

I bought the laptop with the Windows 10 installed and I want to replace the 128GB M.2 storage (where Win 10 resides) with an 1TB and install Ubuntu only in it.

But I still want to be able to boot the Win 10 from the 128GB storage by using a USB3.1 Type-C to M.2 M Key NVMe PCIE plugged in the USB port (not tested in the Thunderbolt port). I can confirm that the files are accessible using this adaptor.

I plugged the adaptor in the laptop, chose the option to boot from "Windows Media Manager" and after some time I got a blue screen saying that was not possible to boot Windows. I put the original M.2 storage back in the laptop the system is booting normally.

At the moment a don't have anything insert in the M.2 storage slot and the 1TB HDD is the factory Windows (D:) drive.

I haven't changed any settings in the BIOS (1.10.0).

Thanks for your response. Are you basically saying that I'll have to wipe the original 128GB nvme storage and install the "Windows To Go" in it? If so, am I able to use the original Win 10 license key from Dell for this? Are there any other options like tweaking the BIOS, or when installing Linux in the new 1TB nvme storage I have the 128GB plugged in (with the USB adaptor) and the Grub listing it in its boot partitions option?
