Boya m1 mic issue on an Inspiron 7506 and Windows 11

I plug the mic in. I select the option to indicate I've plugged in a mic. It says it uses a realtec driver and the most uptodate driver is already installed. I test the mic and no sound is recorded. Mic works with my android phone.

Suspect that I need a windows 11 update, which has not been created yet.

Any suggestions anyone?
