7425 Laptop - Alert: Power adapter wattage is insufficient for normal operation.

Have two identical 10 week old 7425 laptops running virtually identical programs on windows 11.

One of them received the error today:

Alert: Power adapter wattage is insufficient for normal operation.
Description: The power adapter wattage does not meet the computer requirement. Use a Dell compatible power adapter with supported wattage

This is using the original OEM power cable that came with the unit. I swapped for the oem power cable from the other unit, and still got the same message.

Upon a reboot, got a bios looking message that was about the same.

After rebooting a few times, the error stopped popping up.

Does this mean there is a power component failing in the laptop?

What can we do to be certain we don't have a bricked laptop to deal with?

Thanks. There are two usb c ports on the laptops, you are supposed to be able to plug the power cable into either one. Both power adapters received that error on both ports, so I don't think it is a dirty port.

The bios currently says 65w adapter. I'll check again should the error pop up again.

Boot while repeatedly pressing F2 to access BIOS. Is the adapter recognized in BIOS? What does it say next to "AC Adapter Type"?

Do both adapters work without error in the other laptop?

If both work in the other laptop but are not recognized in the one in question, it could be an issue with the motherboard or the jack or cable between the two.

You could try to clean out the jack with q-tip and 99% alcohol, and do the same to the plug.

Since the laptop is only ten-weeks-old, I would contact Dell Support to have it dealt with under warranty.
