@msleia94

I guess you can start by looking up how much it will take and in what configurations. Google is a start.

But let me look that up for you.

Oh, look, right here on the Dell support site...

So... right there - 64 GB is the maximum.

Do you know how to find out how much is installed now?

If not, the easiest is to open the side panel of the box and look in it yourself.  But you can check in Windows itself.  "Windows" > "Settings" > "About" to tell you how much is on your machine. Win 10 and Win 11 are a little different.  In Win 10, once in "Settings", click on "System", then "About" is on the bottom left side list.

Or, right-click on a blank area of the taskbar, and click "Task Manager" and pick the "Performance" tab, and click on "Memory". below the graph, it gives you the memory allocations, along with "speed" and "slots used".  The 3880 only has 2 memory slots, and you probably have the standard configuration of 8 GB, with a single 8 GB module using one slot.  Meaning, there is likely another slot open.

You can get another 8 GB module, as long as it is matching the type and speed of the existing module, stick it in that open slot, and you have 16 GB.  Or, you can buy all new ram (again, match the supported speed), like 2 16 GB modules, take out the ram you have now, stick the new ones in, and you have 32 GB.  Or, as the table shown above indicates, get 2 32 GB modules and get the max of 64 GB.
