Keyboard KB216 locked

Hello,

I have just received a DELL keyboard KB216 (Danish sort) but it is not responding. Seems to be locked.

When connecting USB:

- it is correctly added as a new keyboard in the devices manager without any warning

- the num lock (lock icon with num. 9) light gets on

but the keyboard is not responding when any key is pressed.

If I enable the on-screen keyboard I can turn on and off num lock and caps lock, so It seems to be correctly installed but pressing keys has no effect. As if it was locked.

Can anyone help?

Hi @Mary G

It was purchased in Amazon.

I have tried to connect to three different computers but none of them was a dell computer.

What model computer is it connected to? Try using a diff usb port on the back of the tower. Return the KB if it doesn't work. Keyboards are plug and play. Was it purchased from Dell or a reseller?

This appears to be a wired keyboard  which doesn't need any drivers

Connect a different keyboard and look in Device Manager for any "unknown" device. If you find one, right-click and Uninstall it. Then connect the new keyboard and click Action>Scan for new hardware on the Device Manager toolbar.

If that doesn't help, I'd send the keyboard back...

I am afraid I have to return the keyboard

Sounds like a capacitor that's failed, most likely. you may be able to replace the caps, but that's simply not worth it for a $12 keyboard.
