Keyboard and Mouse not working.
I have a Dell Inspiron desktop, with windows 10 loaded. Yesterday the keyboard and mouse stopped working (both test fine on another computer). I can boot to the login/clock screen on the computer but nothing else. I cant get to windows, I cant enter my password. I cant even see the mouse pointer. (I cant get to recovery mode. I cant get to safe mode. I can press F2 to get to bios and keyboard/mouse works there, but it works no where else).
Any ideas on how to get this to work again?

From your post, the keyboard and mouse ARE working but not in Windows.
This tutorial from the tenforums.com may help you to repair Windows so it recognizes the keyboard and mouse.
If the repair doesn't work, you are looking at a reinstall.

I have the exact same problem. Did fireberd's recommendation work for you?

My Dell Inspiron all-in-one has the same problem. I tried the “boot to advanced startup”, but I can’t get there. My touchscreen and the mouse do not work, but my keyboard does.

Have same problem and tried swapping keyboard and mouse to another PC and both work fine. Ports work. WIndows detect both device but once booted neither works just message that device detected and ready to use.

Always include the exact PC model and version of Windows in your posts.
That way, if there's a trending problem for a specific model, we might be able to get our Dell tech contacts to have a closer look. But without knowing if multiple users have the same problem with a specific model, it's unlikely they'll look into it.
Did any of you get a recent BIOS update from Dell or an update from Microsoft through Windows Update?

Just paid $200 to find out that the latest Microsoft Windows update disabled all the USB ports. Had to go into safe mode and remove the last update.

Always include exact PC model in your posts!
Which MS update did you remove?
Dell doesn't test MS updates before they're pushed at us, so this is entirely on MS...again. And without knowing which model PC this is Dell can't investigate...

Dell Inspiron 3847 i3847-2770BK Desktop Intel Pentium
I have experienced the exact same problem. I've tried a keyboard and mouse from another computer and it still doesn't work. It was able to recognize a wireless mouse, so go figure. In the control settings the computer can see the devices but says the "driver is unavailable." I've been able to ask it to troubleshoot, but the problem continues. What is the best solution to this issue?

Which device is seen in Device Manager but no driver, the wired or wireless USB mouse? If it's the wireless mouse, did you install the driver that came with it? If it's a Logitech wireless, go to their site and look for a driver.
Did you recently install either a BIOS update from Dell or a Windows update from Microsoft?

Had the same problem.
Inspiron 3847
Windows 10 Home v. 1709
Figured out how to boot to a USB version of Windows 10 and restored to the most recent restore point from 2/18 or so of Windows.
The computer worked until shutdown and restart the following morning.
Repeated the process but looked at earlier restore points and noticed a Windows update on 2/11 and a restore point of 2/5.
I have restored back to the 2/5 point and not shutdown to avoid update and everything has been working fine.
I'll probably keep the PC on until there is a correction to the update or patch or whatever it would be called.
For the record, I blamed the problem on my 12 year old son who is pretty much the only one who uses the computer and that worked great!
Thanks
Mike

I also have a Dell Inspiron 24 Model 3455 and the keyboard, mouse and touchscreen are not working today. If Microsoft put an update on the machine disabling the USB ports how are they fixing this? I have repeatedly shutoff the machine with the on/off button on the side of the machine but can do nothing else.

Replying to my own post:
I've tried the suggestions here and no luck. I'm open to further ideas.
