Inspiron 5680, SSD upgrade issue

Hi, I am trying to add a new SSD to my inspiron 5680 (blue skull motherboard) the SSD I am trying to add is an MSI PCIe 4.0 NVMe to the m.2 slot. (MSI Spatium M461) When I have it inserted into the slot it is not detected, this is the case on both RAID and AHCI setting. The m.2 slot I have has the 2 prong set up which looks like it is for NVMe and not the 3 prong set up for SATA. Am I missing a reason why this wouldnt work?

You stated that you are adding the SSD and not replacing another drive with it. So assuming you have a boot drive which is not the SSD have you clicked on disk management and allocated then formatted the SSD? If you do not do that it will not be accessible. And yes the NVMe/PCIe SSD is compatible. The Crucial page here also shows Gen 4 SSD that are compatible with your system and the MSI SSD is backward compatible as well. This Dell forum page has a bit more information. Dell specs are somewhat vague on the SSD type but Crucial and other users indicate NVMe as compatible and working.

@JOcean I had thought it would've popped up in storage spaces. That seems to have done the trick. Thank you so much !
