Inspiron 3910, multiple monitors

I am looking at the Dell Desktop Inspiron 3910. I see that it has two HDMI ports. Can I use these to support dual monitors? If I want a 3rd monitor, can I add a separate aftermarket HDMI graphics card, and with that support a 3rd monitor? What add on graphics card would Dell recommend for this?

3910 onboard video ports are one hdmi + one DP.  You can use them for multi monitors.

  • One HDMI 1.4b port
  • One DisplayPort 1.4 port

If your 3910 has Dell oem card it often has >2 video ports.  Yes you can also add non-Dell gpu.  Dell top gpu validated for 3910 is 1660S.

here is example of Dell 1660S in 3910.

You will have to disable Secure Boot in BIOS setup before installing an "after-market" GPU. Otherwise, PC won't boot.

If you don't want the expense and/or hassle to install an add-in video card, you could get a USB3>HDMI or USB3>DP dongle, depending on what port(s) are on monitor #3.  Just make sure the dongle supports your version of Windows and the "recommended" (aka: "native") resolution of the monitor to be connected to the dongle.

But does this system support extended display (two monitors acting as one big one) or doubled displays (two mirror images)?

@JT 6400   - That should be a simple settings change on the Windows Display screen when two monitors are connected...
