inspiron 3910 cannot "see" printer

New Inspiron 3910, old Epson Stylus Photo rx620 printer, Windows 11.  Even though I haven't found drivers for that combo, should not that printer show up in the "add Printer " window when it is powered on and connected?

Thank you very much!  This worked flawlessly.  I had already disconnected the printer and was ready to take it to staples to dump[.  I now have my old reliable (although antique) printer back.

Is the printer connected via a USB cable? Epson does not have drivers even for Windows 10 as they rely on Windows finding and installing the drivers using plug and play. It may not show up in add Printer if there are no drivers available and Windows cannot identify the printer. I added this link to the Microsoft Update Catalogue which has a huge collection of drivers but the newest driver I found there goes back to 2006. And a Google search did not turn up any further information.

Yes, it is usb-connected. And I was afraid that your post confirms my suspicions. I see now why I have been unable to find drivers for it. Oh well, it’s been a great machine for about 12 years……got my money’s worth. Thanks for your reply.

It should and will work.  You have to install the driver manually as it wouldn't install automatically by Windows.  I did a same setup for someone not too long ago, but I connected it as a network machine.

Although outdated, the Stylus Photo RX620 has all the features and more for most daily uses.  Beside the AIO functions, it can also be operated as a stand alone unit.  In addition to its ability of producing photo quality, it has camera connecting port and a multi cards reader, you can also restore pictures from legacy 35 mm film, using the included negatives scanning kit.

With that said, it worth a try to add the machine to your system and enjoying all the great features for your daily usages, instead of sending it to e-waste.

The installation is considering simple.  Connecting the printer to your machine via USB port.  Power on both of computer and printer, verify that your computer is connecting to internet.  Open Windows Settings and select Windows Update, click on Check for updates, when the scanning for update finish, go to Advanced options and select Optional updates, you will find the printer drivers under driver updates, example below, select both drivers and click on Download & install.  Reboot the computer (optional) and print a test page to check for printer functional.

After reading @Chino de Oro post I went back to Epson's web page. For Windows 10 they had this caveat:

Windows 10 drivers for this product are installed automatically when you power-on and connect your printer to your Windows 10 computer.

Windows 11 is based on Windows 10 and many drivers are the same so I wonder if his advice might work, after all it is worth a try.

Let us know what happens and thanks to @Chino de Oro for his thoughts.

In any case happy to help out!
