Inspiron 3050 Micro Desktop SATA Cable (continuation of read-only post)
I signed up just to post an update to an old topic from read-only post: "Inspiron 3050 Micro Desktop SATA Cable" (https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/Inspiron-3050-Micro-Desktop-SATA-Cable/m-p/4588303#M985463) that in Oct 2020 just a few moments ago, part # HM06J is still available to order for $1.99. I ordered right from chat using the link in @Coinspinnr 's post on page 2. I said hello, pasted the part number, had to go through the formality of entering my Service Tag number but was immediately presented an option for an available part for $1.99. I said I'll take two and proceeded to place the order. My order summary came to $3.98 with $0.28 tax and $0 shipping!. So $4.26 total and should be at my doorstep in a few days (estimate 09 Oct). Vaishnavi was super helpful and I didn't encounter any issues with explaining what I was there even at 0230 (AM) Eastern time (I'm a night owl). That's way better than the $30 from the sellers on Ebay (shame). My i3050 is barely used and actually back in the box sitting in storage. I only used it for a few months after upgrading to a 128GB M.2 SSD and maxing out the RAM before building a custom, higher-end HTPC. I figured I'd take out my i3050 and play with it a bit just because. Gotta love finding answers on old forum posts! Thanks everyone on there.

You could avoid the hassle by getting the HP part from amazon
HP Envy 6017B0421501

HP envy or Dell 3050 Micro Cable

I know. I read the whole post. I had that HP part in my cart and everything but then finished reading until the end of page 2. I was going back and forth between Amazon and Ebay searching for the best deal and making sure I had the "right [HP] part". Personally, I'd rather have the real part made for the 3050, especially since @Coinspinnr was nice enough to post the actual part number. My post wasn't about solving an already solved topic. It was suposed to be informative for anyone stopping by the forums in the future like me years later at 2 AM. There was no hassle at all! I had a quick, pleasant, 15 min conversation over chat, paid $4 for TWO genuine Dell parts that will be at my door in days. The other way seems more of a hassle, I have to order an HP part for $7-15 (for one), wait the inconsistent shipping times, cut the tabs before using, find a way to cram all that extra cable length inside (based on the pictures of the HP part) Then enjoy. I have no doubt that the HP cable works. I was simply letting people know the Dell part is still available and cheap. Its all about what part and path the next forum reader wants to take for their 3050 2.5 inch drive upgrade. I personally am very happy I took a chance and it worked out. It was just my way of sending my positive vibes back into the community.

Thank you to the OP for bringing the subject up and to the forum, specifically tgwaste, for the solution.
I've ordered the cable but as a side question, what's the best way to migrate/switch the OS from the measly 32GB M2 drive to the larger SSD I'll be installing? I don't have a W10 key so a clean install would be problematic. The BIOS saved key will not work with a HDD change right?

I wrote a nicely worded paragraph with some of my solutions and tips but the site is stuck and nonresponsive on my PC so I’m reposting from my phone. Pretty much I use WD’s license of Acronis to clone a drive because I mainly use WD drives but there was once I used a Silverstone TS12C because I inherited a 2in1 that had a non WD drive. Probably my best tip is to use a little program called Produkey to exctract your Windows License key so things will be easier to reinstall/migrate in the future. Hope that helps:)

@ZenicaPA
The Windows Product key is embedded in the motherboard. So it should automatically get activated after a clean install, once you log into your Microsoft account.
You can always use Macrium Reflect (free) to image the existing SSD and save that image on an external USB HDD. Then swap in a new SSD and use Macrium to move the image onto the new SSD. NOTE: You have to use Macrium to create a bootable USB stick before you swap SSDs. And be sure to test that the stick actually boots the PC via the F12 menu at boot before swapping SSDs, too.
You can also use Macrium to resize the partitions (link above) so it can use all that extra space.
