Using VMWare Workstation with Image Assist Dynamic

Key Terms:
 
  • Reference Image = A reference image / snapshot / checkpoint is a backup prior to running Image Assist. Use it to make future updates to the Gold/Production image.
  • Gold / Production Image = A Gold or Production image is the final captured WIM image.
  • Unattend.xml = The unattend.xml contains settings used during Windows Setup to customize the OOBE.
 
Getting Started:
 
NOTE: The image CANNOT be in Audit Mode when running Image Assist Dynamic
  • Please Note: Do not join your reference image to a Windows domain.
  • Understand Windows Licensing models - VLA or OEM?  Learn more
  • Allocate at least 4 GB RAM, 4 CPU's & 100GB disk space for VM’s (no secure boot)
  • Build using UEFI.  Learn more
