using solutions enabler to talk to symapisrv

Hello All,

I need some help. I have several boxes out there (most are windows due to ECC restrictions) that have solutions enabler (symapisrv) on them and they are connected to our SYMMs/DMXs. I would like to run solutions enabler commands from a seperate box via the symapisvr running on the various servers. Supposedly I can do this. I have followed everything I can find in the docs but no luck. Has anyone figured this out? can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks,
Scott

PS> SE is v6.4.0

i would like to hear if you ever figure it out ..there has got to be a way do it because Symmetrix management console uses symapisrv to connect to a box with SE installed and runs the commands. I have also used psexec to run symcli commands on remote boxes, i have not tried running symconfigure or anything of that nature, but simple sympd list, symdev list ..etc work ok.

I think that whithout the symapi logs it's impossible to even figure out what's going on .. sboss did you already opened a service request ??

A lot of commands DO work .. symconfigure is the
main exception since you need an accessible
gatekeeper (AFAIK) to run it successfully.

I understand this. A few command will need direct access to the gatekeepers. rock on. I would like to run and collect data from my laptop or run command to check "the state of the world" when we have issues without having to login to specific boxes.

I have not opened a case with the SAC. I was going to see someone had an answer first. This is not production impacting and level 1 is going to be confused about my request. Per your suggestion I will open a case up this morning.

I will let you know what they say.

Scott before reaching the SAC and Sev 1 there are more options ;-) .. I don't know what you can do but usually we -in Italy- open a SR via Powerlink or via a toll-free number ..

The SAC comes in when you have the customer on the knees whithout data access on the production systems .. :-) .. And as you noted, this isn't your case :-)
