Upgrade from Powerpath 4.5 to 5.1.1 on Windows 2003 host issues

We upgraded our Exchange cluster environment from Powerpath version 4.5 to version 5.1.1.  After the upgrade we are have experienced several issues.  We could run a 'syminq' command in 2 - 3 seconds prior to upgrade - after upgrade the same 'syminq' command takes 6 minutes.  A grab would run 10 minutes prior to upgrade, after the upgrade the syminq command will take 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Does anybody have any idea why this may be happeninbvg

Have you ever heard of issues like we are experiencing.  I can take powerpath 5.1.1  off the exchange client and install ver 4.5.1 back on the client and the syminq and grab results go back to normal.  This is really strange - I guess we can look at going to 5.3.

We actually had some stability issues with Exchange 2007 and PP 4.5 ..so we upgraded to 5.3 a few months ago. So far so good.

Have not seen anything like that on Windows boxes. There was some kind of memory leak in PP 4.5.x  ..dont remember the exact version so we ended up going to 5.3

The upgrade of PowerPath 4.5 to 5.1 has been known to leave components of 4.5 still on the system.

I would propose either upgrading to 5.3 sp1 or doing an uninstall of PowerPath 4.5, reboot, install of PowerPath 5.1 if 5.1 is a requirement.

Note memory leaks were discovered in Microsoft MPIO 1.21 and 1.22. These were shipped with PowerPath 5.2 and 5.2 SP1. These versions should be avoided. See EMC knowledgebase article emc207833 for more information.
