Updating ODM definitions on AIX
We have an AIX 5.3.0 (PowerPath 5.1/ODM 5.3.0.0) server that sees storage on a DMX-3. We will be presenting storage from a VMAX. The VMAX requires a newer ODM definition (5.3.0.3 or .4). Do I have to take an outage and remove all the DMX-3 devices before I upgrade the ODM definitions? Or can I leave the DMX-3 devices in place, install the latest ODM definitions, and discover the VMAX with the new definitions? -thank you

Hi. It is not necessary to remove the DMX-3 devices. If you have more questions, please let me know.

You might also like to check out knowledgebase solutions emc144935, and if the boot disk is on a Symmetrix disk emc85504.
