symconfigure: unmap devices : PREPARE error

SE 6.3.2
W2K3 SP1

I am trying to unmap a device. I run the preview successfully.
While running the commit, it will queue and then start retrying a few times at the the PREPARE requesting required resources step.

It will eventually fail. It doesnt leave any locks so it is cleaning up after itself.

Anyone seen this?

Check the symapi log. It should contain some errors that may help determine what the problem is.

Post the errors here.

Sometimes I see this too. There are a number of causes. The symapi logs are a great start in troubleshooting. When EMC dials in and does things, occasionally resources get locked. Check the modem and service processor activity. But this is just one of many possibilties.

If you try again, does it still happen?

As ironman said, please post the errors from the symapi log.

Also, are you trying to unmap VCMdb devices ?
(let us know)

Sorry group...

I should have posted the resolution.

Apparently, a script was left running on the service processor. Once that was no longer running the symconfigure command ran fine.

I've seen this happen if there is a hotspare kicked in as well. The new DMX-3 code 5772 apparently does not have this restriction any more.
