relationship between rdf groups and device groups

Hi All, I am trying to get my head around the relationship between ra / rdf groups and device groups for some SRDF/AR configuration i am doing .
The question i have is - can you have multiple device groups ( for different services / hosts ) using the same rdf group ( i.e. -rdfg # )? and are there any impacts downsides of doing this ?

rough config description :
we have one pair of RF / RA adapters on each side and these are currently configured as rdfg 1. there is already one device group on each side replicating to the other,
it's single hop , SRDF/AR, and teh links are configured bi-directional.
I am looking to add the third device group (so that is the second on one particular site ) using this same set of links. I am pretty certain it is ok to use the same RAs and links as its just another logical connection - its the rdf group part that i'm not sure about . i.e. re-using the same rdfg number again , will this cause any problems ?

i guess this is a logical type question along the lines of can the relationship between device groups and rdf groups be many to one ?

thanks in advance,

Hi "SingleHop" .. I guess you have a single hop SRDF/AR configuration :-)

Welcome to our forums .. and don't forget to introduce yourself in our Coffee Break area .. :-)

Can I use more then a single DG to manage different subsets of devices belonging to the same RDF group ?? The short answer is YES since SRDF/AR leaves devices in ACP_DISK or SYNC mode thus avoiding at all SRDF/A issues (that forces you to have a 1-1 relationship between DGs and RDFGs).

In your scenario .. you already have a bidirectional RDFG .. simply add new devices to existing RDFG, create new DG (with appropriate R1/R2/BCV devices) and run symreplicate :D
You can find a step-by-step guide in recent SRDF manuals (go download S.E. 6.5.2 documentation CD).
