Question about Time Finder Restore

Hi

After the BCV restoration, what steps do i need to follow

Do i need to import all volume groups in the server ?
Do i need to mount all mount points in the server ?
Do i need to start all applications in the server ?

I have a question to restore data from Time Finder.

Let me explain you my Production environment

I have the following:

Solaris server V880 running Solaris 8 Operating System
Veritas Volumen Manager 5.1 for manage the volumes
A time finder Mirror group with 103 devs
DMX 4 1500

I run my mirror every day at 7PM, the question here is:

How can i restore my last BCV?

Do i need to stop all applications in the server before the BCV restoration?
Do i need to umount all mount points in the server before the BCV restoration ?
Do i need to export all volume groups in the server before the BCV restoration ?

If you have any other informacion about that I'll appreciate

Regards

where you want to restore the BCV ? restore from tape to BCV copy or over write the production? Or restore BCV on additional set of devices?

Also is the restore partial/full? Do you need to restore entire data from BCV?

if you want to disk level sync from BCV then the target devices need to be in stopapp&unmount&export staet

I have done the reverse resync with the Hitachi BC(Business copy). But i dont have practical experice on the EMC equvalent.

But i would recommend test/verify this process on a test group before you do the over write production.

All i can say is "symmir restore" funciton should do this.

As Santhosh already suggested you have to issue "symmir restore" (with appropriate options in case you want to restore a whole DG or only part of the devices).
Just remember that when you restore, the content of STD devices will change. Thus it's better if you

1) stop application
2) unmount filesystems
3) deport DGs

This will clean any table/map/bitmap/detail from host memory.
Now that the host isn't using the devices you can issue the restore
Check the process and as soon as the restore completes, you can

1) import DGs
2) mount filesystems
3) start application

I hope it's what you are trying to find.
