HI,
Can anyone help me to unmap vcm device from particular fa port.I have tried to unmap but we r getting error.
I want to enable volume set addressing on that fa port.
Only vcm device is mapped to it.
this is the error
4/04/2009 10:55:45.223 27151 Establishing session with Local cfg srvr Established.
04/04/2009 10:55:54.585 27151 1 EMC:SYMCONFIGURE cfgVerifySetPortCfg Cannot change VSA flag on port 7A:0. The port has devices mapped to it.
when i try to write_disable this vcm device only on the particular FA port it says gatekeeper has error.when i check symapi log it says alll the gatekeeper devices are locked but there is no lock on gatekeeper..
if you have any suggesstion please share it..
Taking the fa offline and enabling will work?

You need a binfile change if you want to unmap the VCM.
Once upon a time it was possible to unmap VCM device from FA ports. But since it gave problems, EMC choose to "lock" the VCM and forbid you from unmapping it too easily.

1. unmap all devices assigned to the port
2. set the V bit
3. remap all devices previously mapped but will now comply with the V bit addressing scheme
Since you cannot unmap the VCM yourself it bombs and will require a bin file by EMC support.
