LUN number limitations in windows200x server

when adding Symmetrix disk for a Windows 2003 server I made a mistake on the lun number when mapping to the FA. I don't remember the exact number I used but it was a higher number than normal, somwhere in 3 digit land. After masking the disk to the server and doing a scan in the OS it found a disk of unknown size that for a lack of better words the system never fully recognized. While trying to find the problem I noticed the bigger lun number in the mapping. None of the FAs that we set up for windows servers have over 2 digit lun numbers, I believe the highest is 8C. I changed the mapping to use a lower number and did another scan in the OS. That resolved the problem.

Since we are up to 8C on two of our four windows FAs I'm concerned I'm going to hit this problem again soon. Does anyone know what limitation I hit?

Thanks,
Christian
