Local Solutions Enabler to many SYMAPI servers

Excuse me if this is rudimentary, but I find myself needing some basic info on Solutions Enabler product functionality.  My environment consists of multiple vBlocks, each with their own fenced off SAN.  Each vBlock has its' own solutions enabler VM with an in-band raw device mapping to the gatekeeper devices on their respective VMAX.  What I am having trouble seeing is whether or not it's possible to have a centralized SE client that has IP connectivity to each of the SYMAPI servers running for each array.  The thing I cannot do (for support reasons) is zone GK devices to a single centralized SE server.  If this configuration is impossible, no worries, I'm just looking for confirmation.

Any input you could provide would be much appreciated!

A remote SE client can only be pointed at one Solutions Enabler server at a given time. You can change which server it points to pretty easily but you cannot point it at more than one at a time.

So as I see it you have a few options:

  1. Zone a bunch of GKs to the same host. You said this isn't possible so moving on...
  2. Do you have GigE directors? You could connect iSCSI GKs to a host over IP instead of FC and you could manage them all that way
  3. Connect the different VMAX arrays via RDF and then they can all be managed by one host with GKs to only one VMAX
  4. Just point the SE client to a different remote Solutions Enabler server whenever you need to manage that array using the netcnfg file and the SYMAPI_CONNECT variable.
