how to use the new paths in existing filesystems in Windows

Hi,

We have facing an issue with the ESX  performance issues on FA 7A/10A, so moved the rest of wintel servers from that Director to 04D/13D

Now we want to unmask the old paths of 7A/10A on these windows servers.

Actually windows admin has to scan the new paths in disk management/VEA & make sure new paths are visible in powerpath. Later do they need to update the filesystems with the new paths or powerpath will take care ?

Please suggest, we want to do this activity without any interruption.

Thanks  in advance !!

Add new paths scan the disks on ESX and run rpowermt commands remotely or powermt display dev=all to make sure it should be seeing new and old paths.

Only change needs to be done would be when the host is booting( boot from san) volume is using that path and has config pointing to 7a/10a in boot bios that needs to be updated..

if its a vm host it should not make a difference as long as ESX host has its boot volume configured correctly (HBA is pointing to correct wwpn of FA)

Hope this helps little.

if PowerPath seeing the new paths ? If yes, there is nothing you need to do on the host side.
