error "The base daemon is not running" after new install of SE 6.4.2.3
Hi,
i've installed SE 6.4.2.3 (uninstalling 6.4.1 and installing 6.4.2.3 because of stor* daemons that did not want to stop), and after install, here are the error message i got:
[root@hpxjy080/var/symapi/log]>symcfg discover
This operation may take up to a few minutes. Please be patient...
The base daemon is not running
[root@hpxjy080/var/symapi/log]>ps -ef | grep stor
root 1430 0 0 Jul 18 ? 0:01 dmprestored
root 25611 1 0 15:24:47 ? 0:00 storsrvd start -name storsrvd
root 26499 28998 1 15:33:33 pts/2 0:00 grep stor
[root@hpxjy080/var/symapi/log]>stordaemon start storapid
Unable to start daemon storapid (storapid)
[PDS/Daemon] Unable to locate daemon executable

Unable to start daemon storapid (storapid)
[PDS/Daemon] Unable to locate daemon executable
I think this is the fingerprint of the problem .. The installation -for some reason- was not able to copy all the executables at their place .. Try to uninstall Solution Enabler ..remove /var/symapi /usr/symapi and (maybe) /opt/symapi .. Reinstall and look carefull the messages during the install.
Let us know if it works.

I have the same problem with Solution enabler .I have uninstalled the previous SE and reinstalled it but problem still remain the same.

Tariqul,
this is a very old thread on SE 6.4.3, I guess you are running a newer version of SE in the 7.x family. The lowest currently supported is 7.3.
It may be the daemon_options file on your system has been modified at some stage. I'd suggest copying renaming readme.daemon_options to daemon_option in your config directory then try to start if this doesn't work run grab and open SR with support to have a look

The same issue happened to me while upgrading from SE 7.6 to SE 8.0.1 on HP-UX 11.23 OS.
Note that this issue was encountered only on HP-UX OS as we had an upgrade on Redhat Linux systems and it was fine.
Diagnostics:
# symcfg discover
This operation may take up to a few minutes. Please be patient...
Problem encountered while communicating with the base daemon
I tried uninstalling both versions and reinstalling SE 8.0.1 however it still didn't resolve the issue.
Resolution:
Make sure the storsrvd daemon is up and try again, symcfg discover should work then.
# stordaemon start storsrvd
Please let me know if this solved the issue.

Check the storapid process running

To shutdown the storapid daemon via software:
#/usr/symcli/storbin/stordaemon shutdown storapid
storapid Told to shutdown
Waiting for daemon(s) to shutdown. This may take several seconds.
If the above command fails you can also do kill -9 on PID from your 'ps
-ef' output to kill the daemon process.
Restart The Daemon and verify that it has started again:
#/usr/symcli/storbin/stordaemon start storapid
Waiting for daemon to start. This may take several seconds.
# ps -ef | grep storapid
root 27546 24038 1 12:30:48 pts/0 0:00 grep storapid
