Automating the split/establishing of disks
Good day to everyone and thanks in advance for all the great advice I am about to get!
I am looking at making changes to a backup strategy. We currently use CC version 6.0
I am looking to automate a process we manually use CC for namely:
1. use timefinder to establish and split a bcv copy of a disk from site1 to site2.
2. back up this disk at site2 rather than at site1
Ideally I would like a bat/script which would do all this automatically.
Cheers

Need a bit more information - When you use "CC" do you mean ControlCenter?
I also assume that you want a windows client to control this as you are talking about using a .bat file.
There are a couple of ways this can be done and it depends very much on your setup:
1) Use DGs to control the establish/split process of each device.
2) Use a device file to control the establish/split process of each device.
3) Use another piece of EMC software called RM (Replication Manager) to control this process.
If you use with a DG just create a for loop for each DG and make the file a .bat file.
if you use Device Files then do exactly the same except reference a device file.
If you want to go down the RM route then you would need to speak to EMC for more advice on that.
